Today is a historic moment for MTV.
It's longest running show, The Real World turns 15.
Only May 21, 1992, Andre, Becky, Eric, Heather, Julie, Kevin and Norman were introduced to the world, as seven, young wide-eyed aspiring musicians, artists, actors, and poets, who came to New York City to live a dream.
Fifteen years later, The Real World has visited eighteen different cities around the world, has had 130 different castmembers appear on the show, spanned two successful spin-offs, a made-for-TV movie, and now an upcoming miniseries, it shows no signs of slowing down.
Although the premise, look, and feel of the show may have changed, it still stays true to the formula of having seven 18 to 24 year-olds living in a loft, to record their every move, and to see how seven young people interact with each other in today's world.
With its 20th season on the horizon, The Real World has become MTV's longest running program. Congratulations to the creators, producers, crew, and castmembers of The Real World. It's been a great fifteen years.

MTV begins to show repeats of old seasons including Austin and the Gauntlet II
For whatever reason, may it be a programming error or just a blatant need to fill up time in its schedule, MTV has begun airing repeats of old seasons on its main channel.
The very first episode of Austin was aired sometime last week during the middle of the night, while this upcoming week, two episodes of the Gauntlet II are being shown.
While there has been no official notice from MTV, this may signal the beginning of the re-airing of old episodes. MTV, which has pretty much abstained from the practice, even when a new season premieres, usually holds back on showing old episodes of prior seasons. Most episodes of the Real World and Road Rules, however, have been sold into syndication and will probably be not shown on the channel.

Viacom, MTV's parent company, asks YouTube to pull down all its content
Viacom, the parent company of MTV, who is basically responsible for The Real World, Road Rules and the Challenges, has asked popular video site YouTube to pull down all its content from its networks. This includes content from MTV, which unfortunately includes these shows.
Although YouTube may no longer carry these videos, other video sites such as iFilm have not been asked to comply. However, the majority of video content currently exists on YouTube. Check out the article written in CNN Money.

Today is Election Day... Don't forget to go to the polls and let your voice be heard
VOTE!
Today, November 7th, is Election Day
Voting is an understated privilege in this country today. Not only do millions of Americans fail to exercise this privilege, but policies are essentially enacted that typically do not represent the interests of our electorate at large. Typically, young voters, some of who visit this site on a regular basis, are commonly excluded from politics because their voice is not heard in the polls.
Go out and vote. It doesn't matter what you vote for, it doesn't matter who you vote for. All that matters is your vote.
Check out your polling place and be sure to cast your vote. Every single vote matters. Your voice matters. Get your friends to vote. Get your family to vote. Everyone needs to vote.

Mary-Ellis Bunim, co-creator of the Real World and Road Rules, dies of cancer
Co-creator of The Real World and Road Rules and half of Bunim-Murray Productions, Mary-Ellis Bunim has died today. In an incredible unexpected turn of events, the co-producer/creator of the Real World died of cancer in Burbank, California today. The following from CNN.com:
"LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Mary-Ellis Bunim, credited with creating numerous reality TV hits, including MTV's "The Real World," is dead.
Bunim, 57, died in Burbank, California, Thursday after a long battle with cancer, her publicist said.
She began her television career in soap operas. Then, in 1990, she and Jonathan Murray combined the documentary nature of news and the dramatic intrigue of soap operas to create The Real World.
She also co-created "Road Rules," "The Love Cruise," "Making the Band," "The Real World Road Rules Challenge," the reality feature film "The Real Cancun," the real-life daytime drama "Starting Over," and "The Simple Life," Fox network's major prime-time reality hit of the 2003 season, starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.
"Mary-Ellis was a one-in-a-million partner and friend, and I will always treasure our incredible years of collaboration," Murray said. "Even as the family at Bunim-Murray Productions mourns her loss, we will honor her memory by remaining committed to her ideals of creativity, adventure, and excellence, both on the screen and in our lives."
Bunim is survived by her daughter, Juliana."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, co-producer Jonathan Murray, and any cast and crew who knew Mary-Ellis. A revolutionary mind in television, she will be greatly missed.
Read the MTV.com article.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. February 7 at the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to:
