The Real World: San Diego House is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Party

Long after the San Diego castmates moved out of the house, you can get in on a piece of Real World history by partying in the La Jolla house.

A company called Green with Envy events is hosting a party, in part to benefit the United States Youth Advocate Foundation. For $99, you can party it up in San Diego for Cinco de Mayo. The event is catered, has entertainment, and you can even purchase VIP tickets. The $99 price tag includes access to an open bar, so the event is a pretty good deal. Check out the link here.

San Diego's Ashley threw the first pitch at yesterday's Lexington Legends Game

Since the season wrapped late last year, Ashley (San Diego) moved back to Connecticut to live with family.

Real World: San Diego's Ashley
Ashley threw the ceremonial first pitch at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, KY. Last night's game marked the first home game for the Legends. The Lexington Legends are the minor league affiliate of Houston Astros. The Legends played the minor league team for the Chicago White Sox.

Last anyone heard, Ashley and Zach (San Diego) were still dating. You can follow Ashley on Twitter at @AshleyMarieMTV

Alex contributes to MTVs Voices series, discussing what confidence means to her

Alex (San Diego) has been keeping busy, working as an official correspondent for MTV's Voices series.

The Real World: San Diego's Alex Govere
The Voices series is an online collection intended to represent the voice of a generation. Alex contributes regularly with video blogs on a number of different topics. This week, she talks about confidence. But in the past, Alex has talked about topics such as sex, activism, and bullying. You can follow Alex on Twitter @alexgovere and she writes for her own personal blog, The High Fiver.

San Diego's Zach is back playing professional football with the Saginaw Sting

One of the castmembers from the most recent San Diego season has rejoined his old football team, the Saginaw Sting.

Real World San Diego's Zach
Zach is a wide receiver for the professional indoor football team. The team consistently does well and is currently the second place team in the league. In an interview with a local newspaper, Zach briefly spoke about his Real World experience. "It was just a fun experience, I try to stay level-headed. It was an experience that not everyone gets to have, and I got to enjoy it. I got a little more notoriety but that's about it."

This is a little different than the perspective shared on the Reunion, where Zach and Ashley (San Diego) separated themselves from the rest of the cast. Nonetheless, when asked about potentially returning to MTV for a Challenge, Zach leaves the door open. We may be seeing Zach on tv screens soon enough.

Real World San Diego has its highest rated premiere since Brooklyn

Last Wednesday's episode of The Real World: San Diego had the highest rated premiere since the 2009 Brooklyn season.

1.9 million viewers tuned in and met Alexandra, Ashley, Frank, Nate, Priscilla, Sam, and Zach. The episode was up 17 percent from the Las Vegas premiere last season, but the episode with Dustin Zito's revelation is still the highest rated episode in a while.

Last Wednesday's episode had elements of drunken revelry, but the cast actually stayed in for their first night in the house (gasp!). Well, technically, they decided to stay in because Priscilla was underage, but then later somehow ended up at a bar. The episode had actual elements of interest and shows promise in future developments. The Ashley/Zach storyline was set up quite well with obvious references to the fact that they will hook up this season. While Priscilla, Nate and Sam seem to be developing separate individual storylines on their respective pasts.

The breakout star of the show, or at least the person the first episode focused most on, was Frank. Frank identifies as bisexual, yet is irked by the manner in which Sam brazenly shares her sexuality with the roommates. Nonetheless, in the first episode, Frank freely admits that he's bisexual, but falls hard for Alexandra. Alexandra seemed to respond to his direct advances by flirting back with him, but later shot Frank down while drinking in a bar. Then, we essentially saw Frank basically freak out. And this was only the first episode.

TMZ publishes photos of Real World: San Diego House pre-production

TMZ has some great photographs of the Real World: San Diego house before MTV came and renovated the house. This comes from an article published this past week revealing the bars and restaurants the Real World: San Diego cast frequents.

The photos themselves are not that revealing, as they are low quality and do not give an accurate representation of the entire house. However, it is the first time we get to peek into the mansion that the cast of the Real World: San Diego are calling home. The article does reveals interesting information about the house, including that the house has a full bar in the living room, a jacuzzi on its deck, and a giant chess board on where the tennis court once stood. The pictures also show nondescript portions of the house, the most notable being the kitchen and a movie theater. No word on if the movie theater has been left for the cast. However, it would be particularly unusual since the cast is not allowed to watch television in the house.

The Real World San Diego Spotted at Local Restaurants and Bars

There's an interesting article at the La Jolla Patch about the upcoming 26th season of The Real World.

First and foremost, the article points out that filming is scheduled to end around Labor Day. The new cast of the Real World San Diego will stick around for the remainder of the month.

However, what's interesting about the article is that the journalist who wrote it, called up Pacific Beach restaurants and bars to see if they gave permission for producers to film. Beaumont's Eatery, which is in the Bird Rock neighborhood where the house is located, regularly hosts the cast for lunch and dinner. In addition, Moondoggies is a hangout for the cast at night. If you're a San Diego resident, and see the cast at these or other local establishments, feel free to contact us at newrwroad@hotmail.com.

The Real World: San Diego (2011)

As of today, the only official production of any of the three shows is the 26th season of The Real World. Road Rules has not been renewed since the ill-conceived Viewers' Revenge and MTV has not yet announced whether or not they will renew The Challenge series after the currently airing Rivals.

So, appropriately, the first blog post would be about the The Real World: San Diego (2011). After the last two seasons revisited old locales, producers are heading toward a mansion in the ritzy La Jolla neighborhoods of San Diego:

The 6,845 square foot, five bedroom, six bathroom house is only minutes away from the popular Mission Beach neighborhood and is currently filming (Real World Houses). And what would be a spoiler post be without some hint of the cast? Vevmo has one of the best rundowns of the seven strangers:

Alexandra Govere, 21 - Los Angeles, CA
Ashley Kelsey, 24 - Winstead, CT
Frank Sweeney, 22 - Canasota, NY
Nate Stodghill, 22 - Grain Valley, MO
Priscilla Mendez, 19 - San Diego, CA
Samantha McGinn, 21 - Chesapeake, VA
Zach Nichols, 23 - Brighton, MI

Two interesting tidbits about the cast pop out immediately. First, most of the cast is over the age of 21. This actually has been the norm in the later seasons of Real World, especially since the focus on the cast has shifted more toward a partying atmosphere. Although 18 to 24-year-olds are eligible to be cast in the show, the cast has heavily featured 21 to 24-year-olds in the past few seasons. In fact, in the last five seasons, Emily (Washington DC), Jonna (Cancun), and Devyn (Brooklyn) were the only castmembers under age during filming. Second, Priscilla (San Diego) is actually from San Diego. In the past, producers have maintained a requirement for filming was that the castmembers could not reside in the town in which the show was being filmed. Melissa (Miami) and Ruthie (Hawaii) resided in Miami and Honolulu, respectively. From the producers' point of view, this created problems as this allowed these castmembers to escape the house and seek the solace of friends and family when times got tough. It comes as a surprise that after more than a decade of production, the producers have lifted this requirement.

Hopefully there is more to come from the new San Diego house. As always, hit me up with news if you have it: newrwroad@hotmail.com.
