Derrick interviews Tyler for his Challenge podcast

Rivals castmember Tyler (Key West) sits down with Derrick (Extreme) in his
podcast this week to get the lowdown on some great inside scoop. The interview with Tyler mostly focuses on why Tyler was so angry about other teams voting for him and Johnny (Key West) to face CT (Paris) in the final Jungle. He also gives a little perspective on what he thinks about Cara Maria (Fresh Meat 2) and his perspective on Paula (Key West). He also promises an awesome reunion, which will be coming up in two weeks.

Road Rules Extreme's Derrick Hosts a Great Podcast

Back with some new Challenge news. Fresh on the last post's news that spoiled the Challenge Rivals final Jungle, there's a great Podcast that you guys should know about.

Derrick (Extreme) runs a fantastic podcast that invites former Real World and Road Rules alumni to talk about the latest news. With the Rivals Challenge airing now, Derrick usually has the most pertinent guests for that week's episode. With all the drama surrounding Cara Maria (Fresh Meat II) this week, Derrick invited her, Laurel (Fresh Meat II), and Abram (South Pacific) to talk about the last couple episodes.

There's some great stuff on this latest podcast. Abram abruptly leaves the chat early on, and CT (Paris) has something to do with it! Also, Cara Maria and Laurel give their opinions on the "mob", CT, and Jenn. Check out Derrick's Challenge Podcasts, as there is a great backlog of stuff. We'll keep you updated as he posts new podcasts week-by-week.

Aftershow: Derrick shows up to chat it up with Blair for a sixth time, which is a new record

This week, appearing for the sixth time, Derrick (Extreme) showed up on the Aftershow to chat it out with Blair (The Quest).

Derrick wanted to face Wes and wanted to take on the "performance-enhancing", cocky attitude. He calls it the funnest Duel/Gauntlet he's been in. Blair asks his about the kissing bandit, where he found himself kissing Casey (Fresh Meat) in Brazil. But he doesn't remember it unfortunately.

Blair then brings up the "I'm a better kisser than he is" when Jodi (Extreme) is crying over Evan (Fresh Meat) and then it shows Derrick and Jodi kiss. Derrick gives Diem (Fresh Meat) support for hooking up with CT (Paris) because they're two cool people being happy together.

Now, they play the Basket Game:

Paula (Key West): He didn't get to see the drunken moments. She's pretty cool and she's got kind eyes.
Johnny (Key West): Funny. Steals his thunder.
Casey (Fresh Meat): Got to make out with her and didn't even remember it.
Tyler (Key West): Glad he sent him home. Douchebag. Didn't see the negativity he gives out. Should watch the show to see how he ends up looking after he spreads his negativity.

The Sh(* You Didn't See: Derrick wrestling with Kenny (Fresh Meat) on a hill. Kina (Extreme) wrestling Eric (Fresh Meat). A group fight with a whole bunch of castmembers.

Another Duel chatfest: Evan will also be chatting it up with BuddyTV tonight

Evan (Fresh Meat) will also be chatting it up with fans in the BuddyTV chatrooms.

If you're still not clued into what BuddyTV is, it's this chat platform where you can interact with a moderator who has a camera and a microphone pointed straight at them. In the case of Evan and Derrick (Extreme), they will be chatting while the Duel is airing on TV.

Evan will be on BuddyTV from 9:30 to 11:00PM EST. Don't forget to catch both Evan and Derrick tonight while you catch the latest episode of the Duel!

Don't forget to catch Derrick tonight in his online chat with BuddyTV

Derrick (Extreme) has made a regular habit of showing up at BuddyTV in chatting with fans of the show.

Here's how it works: You go to the website at 10PM PST. Derrick will be in the chatroom with a camera and a mic pointed straight at him. He'll sit there and watch the episode along with all you PST people (Tape the episode if you want to watch it along with him.), and he responds to any comments or questions that you may have about the episode.

It's a nice way to interact with a castmember and ask someone up front questions about what was going down in Brazil. So, if you're available, tonight is the BuddyTV chat with Derrick.

Derrick is a TV jockey for BuddyTV again for this season of the Duel

Derrick (Extreme) is returning to Buddy TV once again this season, guiding you through all the episodes of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel.

What is Buddy TV? Buddy TV is an interactive program where you can watch and chat with Derrick while simultaneously watching the Duel. The only thing is: he'll be doing the show on central time. So if you're not on central time, you won't be able to watch the show with him.

Tonight, he'll be doing the Duel premiere episode at 9PM CT. (That's in about half-an-hour.) So don't forget to check Derrick out in BuddyTV.

Update: Derrick's chat is over since the show is now over in Central time. We'll update the site with more information on the latest episode soon. We'll also keep you updated on the appearances that Derrick makes on BuddyTV.

Katie will leave to Chicago within the next week because Derrick has appearances until November

So, Katie (The Quest), who talked about moving to Chicago two weeks ago, over at MySpace, has recently mentioned that she will move out sooner than expected.

The impetus behind a quick move? Derrick (Extreme) will be unavailable to drive her from Los Angeles to Chicago because he'll have appearance booked from this next week to November. I know what many people are thinking... Doesn't that mysteriously line up with the Challenge film date of October 16? Well, yes. However, technically, Katie mentioned that the move itself would happen on the 15th, so Derrick may or may not be on this next Challenge.

Spearheaded by Beth S. (Los Angeles), the calendar has been a yearly venture that features some of the hottest castmembers on the pages of a full-color calendar. Tonya (Chicago), Beth S. (Los Angeles), Katie (The Quest), Adam (The Quest), Nehemiah (Austin), Syrus (Boston) and Wes (Austin) are all inside the pages of the calendar as well.

Derrick hooks up with Diem and Casey; Sign the petition to save Road Rules

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the official MySpace of the Real World/Road Rules Blog.

In Challenge news, we have some small hookup-related information about The Fresh Meat Challenge and the upcoming Challenge currently filming in Brazil. Both have to do with Derrick (Extreme) and his love of the newbies. In the Fresh Meat Challenge, Derrick took "teamwork" to the next level when he hooked up with Diem (Fresh Meat). As you know, Diem is his partner and I hear the two get pretty far in the Challenge. As for the new Challenge filming in Brazil, Derrick wasted no time and reportedly hooked up with Casey (Fresh Meat), (Wes' (Austin) partner).

Also, sign this petition that was just started by a fan to save Road Rules from cancellation. BMP recently pitched the reformatted version of Road Rules to MTV and is still awaiting word to see if Road Rules will be picked up again. Sign the petition to help the process be moved along.

Don't forget to watch Mike (Back to New York) and Trishelle (Las Vegas) on Fear Factor tonight.

Derrick beat Brad in the Gauntlet, pulling an upset

In one of the most stunning upsets in the whole season, Derrick (Extreme) beat Brad (San Diego) in the Gauntlet. While our notes had Brad making the finals and Derrick bowing out right before the end, Derrick pulled off an upset last night. While we're fairly certain of who will end up bowing out, we apologize and are shocked by the turn of events.

Katie and Derrick will be on this upcoming Challenge; Producers faced with the challenge of mixing it up

Katie (The Quest) confirmed a long time ago, via her MySpace, that both she and Derrick (Extreme) will be leaving for the upcoming Challenge, which begins production this Saturday, October 15 in Australia. Other participants? Danny (Austin), Johanna (Austin), Melinda (Austin) and Wes (Austin) are all confirmed.

So what's with this eleventh installment of the Challenge? Well, as inviting former castmembers back to challenge each other became difficult following the cancellation of Road Rules... Bunim-Murray decided to start casting for the what they called the "Fresh Meat Challenge". This new Challenge will supposedly pit former Real World and Road Rules alumni against a fresh-faced team of nobodies. A few months ago, Derrick (Extreme) appeared in television ads encouraging "newbies" to forgoe the Real World and Road Rules experience and go straight to the Challenges.

So what does this mean for the series? Nobody, except, of course, the production crew know what role the "newbies" will play. On Maximum Velocity Tour, The Quest and Campus Crawl the roadies faced-off or participated in a task with a group of nobodies who were selected in a sweepstakes from MTV.com. Of course, trash-talking or hook-ups usually ensued, but they were never considered to be a full-fledged part of the cast, since they were only included in one or two episodes.

As for this upcoming Challenge, it is unclear whether producers have decided to have a regular, consistent set of "newbies" challenge the group of alumni they are inviting back. For all we know, they potentially could have rotating groups after each individual mission. What's also important however, is how loyal viewers will welcome the "newbies". Very little exposition is done on the Challenges. Storylines from castmembers' first appearances on The Real World and Road Rules tend to set up the exposition needed for the Challenges. Viewers are familiar with and excited about former castmembers returning to reality television. Will the "newbies" be accepted by viewers as regular castmembers? Will the Blog update you on the latest news and information about the "newbies"? Will BMP ask the "newbies" back for new installments of the Challenge as they do for regular alumni?

Only time will tell. It all depends on production. Our guess is that since a casting call went out for this Challenge, expect to see a regular group of "newbies" to stay and challenge the alumni. What does that mean? Probably way more time getting to know the "newbies", less time on the Challenge itself and more drama between the two teams (mostly because the alumni will feel like this is their Challenge and they should win it). But, of course, all this considering if this really does end up becoming the format of the show. Expect more news to leak when production starts up this Friday.

Jodi, Derrick, Veronica, Tina, Abram on the new Challenge

According to the RR/RW Talk yesterday over at the Fishbowl, Jodi, Derrick, Veronica, Tina, and Abram are confirmed castmembers on this year's Challenge.

Wednesday, January 05, 2005

Tonya, Derrick, Veronica, Mark, Coral will be on this new Challenge

On today's Fishbowl chat, Tonya (Chicago) revealed who would be appearing on the new Challenge. She, Derrick (Xtreme), Veronica (Semester at Sea), Mark (USA Your 1) and Coral (Back to New York) are confirmed. But she also said Melissa would be participating. Unclear whether it is Miami or New Orleans Melissa.

Tonya leaves this Sunday, the 9th and there is no clue (as usual) as to where the Challenge will be filmed. Production will be taking away their watches and sunglasses. Possibly so they are up longer and can catch them crying.

The Challenge premieres in June.

Eric will replace Derrick on his chat on Reality Spot; Wrestling star to appear on the Challenge; Philadelphia will vacation in Fiji

The following is information on the Final 3 at Battle of the Sexes 2:

At RealitySpot's chat with Derrick (Xtreme) yesterday, Derrick was actually unable to make it. Theo (Maximum Velocity Tour) apologized this morning and said Eric (New York) was supposed to be his replacement. He also said that both he and Eric were still filming the Challenge, and that there were two days left. So, we know that both Eric (New York) and Theo (Maximum Velocity Tour) are in the final three.

In related news to that, Theo promises chats at RealitySpot with Brad (San Diego), Randy (San Diego), Robin (San Diego), Mark (USA Tour 1), Derrick (Xtreme) and Ibis (Xtreme).

In other news, WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg, posted at his website in his latest news section: Goldberg To Appear On Real World/Road Rules: On 8.9.04, Goldberg made a cameo on MTV's Real World/Road Rules. The segment will air in October. No word yet on whether he was part of a mission.

And also... in the Philadelphia Inquirer's magazine section, there are some interesting new tidbits on the upcoming new season of The Real World.

  • MTV will start running promos this week. The show debuts Sept. 7.

  • The roommates are helping to construct a playground for a youth group in the city, although their official job is working for the Philadelphia Soul.

  • They vacationed in Fiji last month.

  • We all saw the lush tropical paradise of the South Pacific in Road Rules last season, but MTV Producers decided to allow this year's roomies to stay in Fiji for a week. Although the roomies are not even out of Philadelphia yet, they say that half the episodes are complete.

The Inquirer names the castmembers as Landon, Karamo, Willy, M.J., Shovonda, Melanie and Sarah, which of course, has been known by hardcore fans ever since they moved in on April 30. The manner of speed in which this season has been produced has been sparking controversy throughout the internet world of whether or not Real World producers are already beginning work on a loft in Washington DC. After someone began spreading news that the loft was already being constructed above a Maggie Moo's ice cream store in the Adams Morgan section of DC, the Washington Post called producers who told them that the rumor was absolutely false and that no property, nor the city for the sixteenth season had yet been selected.

Thanks to Kyle, Mitch, and Palau for that information! If you haven't checked out Jamie's (New Orleans) new DVD, Reality Road Trip Bahamas, do so now!.

Derrick will be joining Reality Spot for a chat in the near future

On August 11th, 9pm Eastern time, Derrick (Xtreme) will be joining Reality Spot for a live chat. Every week, the Spot guarantees guest hosts. Last week, the first session was held with Theo (Maximum Velocity Tour) and many people didn't show up because of lack of advertising. He answered all of the questions but couldn't say much about the Challenge. But he did say that was a hook-up involving him and another girl. Also, when the Challenge airs he will posting a journal he's been keeping. Fans of Derrick are encouraged to come.

Don't forget to check out Jamie (New Orleans) and his new DVD, Reality Road Trip Bahamas.

Derrick (RR Xtreme) will be part of the next Challenge set to begin filming this month. An article published in the Daily Herald confirms it. Check it out here.

San Diego reunion to air next week; Two will get the boot according to E!Online

Now that the seven roommates have left San Diego and are all sitting cozy at home, you all need your Real World fix! Next week, San Diego will air its regular final installment with the reunion, which will be attended by all eight castmembers and hosted by MTV VJ Vanessa. The Real World: Philadelphia is slated to premiere sometime this fall. Until then, Road Rules: X-treme will be airing all summer. And the next installment of the Challenge is now in production (probably to debut alongside Philadelphia).

And speaking of X-treme, Kristin at E-Online says that two will get the boot this time. She also mentions Nick who was named as a replacement for a booted castmember. But, when asked who Nick actually replaces, (Spoiler, highlight to read)Wanda nixes the idea that Danny is the one to be booted, but rather Derrick is the one to go. No confirmation on this as of yet.
