The Real World is casting for its 20th season, which may be its last

The Real World was contracted up to season 20 back when Austin was airing. This means that we're guaranteed seven strangers living in a loft until that 20th season has arrived.

Twenty seasons on the air is a definite milestone and the producers/executives at MTV may decide this will be a poignant place for the series to bow out. However, maybe in a last-ditch attempt to revitalize the series, the show seems to be taking a step back to its roots.

In a casting call, Bunim-Murray is calling for young, motivated professionals (actors, musicians, artists, etc.,) who want to live in a major metropolitan city to get closer to their dreams. If you remember, this was one of the original premises of The Real World.

Julie (New York) moved to New York from Birmingham in dreams of pursuing dancing, with small hopes to at least do small regional productions and maybe even Broadway. Heather B. (New York) was working on her rap album during the show and she even brought Julie and Eric (New York) in the studio to record. Becky (New York) was an aspiring musician, who during the course of the show, filmed several performances at local bars and clubs, with her roommates cheering her on. Eric (New York), who was a model and actor, allowed cameras to follow him on photo shoots, commercials, and talk show appearances. Norman (New York), the artist, allowed the cameras to get a glimpse of his support of Jerry Brown during the 1992 Presidential primaries. Kevin (New York), an aspiring poet and teacher at NYU, read poetry in front of crowds, taught classes during filming, and allowed the cameras to film it. Andre (New York) filmed a video with his band and had his roommates come to several performances.

The Real World was a far different show then it what it is today. So, maybe, producers are thinking about revitalizing the format that made the show so popular in the first place. If you're interested in applying to be on the show, casting is taking tapes until the end of this month. Casting calls will be announced soon.

No more real world, and road rules?! Oh no, what's MTV gonna do?? Oh wait... they have twenty other reality shows that you can watch. I know I'm not the only one who thinks this, but can someone tell me how there are only a handful (if that) of Hawaiian people on Maui Fever?????

They should air the old shows and have more challenges n maybe air the old challenges too its just my opinion!!!

There is no way the 20th season will be the last real world cause its still mtv top rated show

Raise the bar to 25, so I can at least try out for this shit.

Well with no more real worlds .. and no more road rules .. what are they gonna do about the challenges?

Because I really like the challenges.

Yes but I agree with the "They should air the old shows and have more challenges n maybe air the old challenges too its just my opinion!!!" Yes they should start showing old challeneges and seasons they would be getting great ratings :-)

please for the love of God...don't get SEVEN WANNABE ACTORS!! That would be the end for me.

Personally I feel the newer shows are better than the old ones, what they need to do is find people with more important lives, bring people that can teach us something. YES, there will alway's be sex and drinking and clubbing, thats what you get with a show about a group of attractive 20 somethings, but in the end The Real World is a show about real people and there lives for three months, it teaches lessons and does touch the soul every now and then.

They really need to show the old challenges again, I really wanna see the Gauntlet and Inferno mostly though. And I really hope the Real World keeeps going because:

1. MTV will be absolutely terrible with all these new stupid shows they have now.

2. I WANT TO TRY-OUT FOR THE REAL WORLD!!!

Yeah without the Real World or the challenges I have no reason to cross MTV's channel.

Seriously since Road Rules Return half the people that come back to do challenges from Road Rules are from Seasons 12 and 13. This is getting a little annoying and ridicoulus. And all this repetition of old challenges what kind of crap is that make something new I've got plenty ideas:

Top Dog Challenge: Have 20 of the strongest most competititve Real World and Road Rulers battle out for one person to win $300,000.

Celebrity Challenge: Have 15 RW/RR Vets battle out against 15 Celebrities who are playing for charaties and stuff.

Can't MTV think like that? Took me 3 minutes to make two challenges NOT HARD AT ALL

Anonymous said...

Yeah but those two challenges sound like they would suck.

i think the top dog one sounds good. you got that much testeron in one house, there is bound to be fights and LOT of drama. the celebrity one, that one sounds like it would be boring to watch.

Anonymous said...

the top dog one sounds really good but that celeberity sounds like crappy good ideas though

people, come one..this will not be the last season, im sure of it! i had a phrophecy and im on one of the seasons, so dont worry. but seriously, theres no fucking way mtv is canceling this shit, and if they did, another network would def. pick it up!

Anonymous said...

If MTV ever did a Celbrity one

Paris Hilton
Lindsey Lohan
NY from (Flavor of Love)
and Nicole Richie should all be on that show...NOW THAT WOULD BE A GOOD CHALLENGE

The guys for the celeb challenge would be hard to pick though but either way those ideas seem good and I agree The Inferno/Gauntlet and BOTS is getting a little played out we need something new

OK PEOPLE WE ALREADY HAVE SURREAL LIFE SO WHAT THE CASE OF HAVING A REAL WORLD WITH CELEBRATIES IF THEY ALREADY HAVE SURREAL LIFE. C'MON PEOPLE

THEY SHOULD AIR THE OLD CHALLENGES LIKE GAUNTLET, INFERNO 2 N BATTLE OF THE SEASONS JUST MY OPINION

Anonymous said...

NO real world NO rating! end of story

Anonymous said...

I agree that MTV should not cancel The Real World.
As someone said, maybe another channel will pick it up, but is the issue with Bunim-Murray wanting to end their run (by going full circle), or is it MTV?

I think it's a great idea to go back to the way it used to be. It's much more compelling when you're dealing with people who have ambitions and dreams, instead of people who just want to party. Yes, the sex and drinking will still be a part of it, but at least we can see them try to get real jobs and become what they want to be.

And there's no way MTV is cancelling Real World. It's their bread and butter. They're probably just playing it up so they can get better ratings if they say it's the last one.

Anonymous said...

sex drinks and parites make the show!!!!! i dont care about ambitions and dreams of people this is boring i wanna see drunk people party their ass off and fight cause thats what we like no??!

Anonymous said...

For those of us that would love to see an old season, will we ever be able to buy the Real World seasons at a place like Best Buy or Circuit City?

Anonymous said...

Yeah I always wondered why you were never able to buy any of the real world seasons or any of the challenges on DVD.

Anonymous said...

the seasons will never be on dvd, minus b2ny and las vegas..however, if a season is a VERY good one with great ratings im sure mtv would definitly put the season on dvd...i wish san diego would go on dvd..or hawaii, i loved those seasons..and new orleans!

Anonymous said...

I know this had nothing to do with this but anyways.

Like we said the fall challenge is going to be FRESH MEAT 2 n it is set to begin filming after Road Rules: Viewers Revenge so producers invite the new road rulers to the show. n then the next challenge i heard rumors that it might be "Battle of the sexes 3. N for the cast of FRESH MEAT 2 alumni no names have been told.

Interesting isn't.

Okay so According to the Bunim-Murray Productions Real World is going back to its old way..

"SPECIAL INFO:
For Real World's upcoming 20th season, we are searching for cast members with career and life goals that they want to pursue in a major metropolitan city"

Anonymous said...

if they cancel the real world and the challenges i will not even watch MTV

Anonymous said...

i love the new real world..its way better than that old wackness..who cares about ppls ambitions and crap...sex, partying and drunken drama makes the ratings cmon people be truthful..thats all you wanna watch...
